Popcorn (Homemade in the Microwave)


It’s so cheap to make your own and it is pretty quick and easy, so I’ve tried this lots of times and here’s what I do now:

I use the Presto PowerPop microwave multi-popper with the Genuine PowerCup microwave concentrators.  (I get those from Amazon.)  I’ve had this popper forever, and I see new cute ones and am tempted to get a new one, but this one works perfectly.


         1/3 cup popcorn kernels

         ½ teaspoon flavorless oil (I use canola because it’s what I have on hand

       ½ teaspoon table salt (I use regular table salt for       this because it is smaller and sticks on the kernels better.  I should get popcorn salt that is even smaller or I’ve heard you can put regular salt in the food processor so it will stick better, but I haven’t tried that, either.

I stir these together a bit, put them in the microwave and select popcorn, and in about 3 to 4 minutes, I have perfectly popped corn with few unpopped kernels.  I realize microwaves vary so you may need to adjust.
