Charlie’s Cranberries Recipe



12 oz. bag of fresh cranberries

1 cup granulated sugar

¼ cup brandy


¼ cup dark crème de cacao

¼ cup sweet vermouth


Mix together the last 4 ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat and bring to a boil for maybe 5 to 10 minutes. Charles says this helps reduce the alcohol sensation. Then add the berries and stir until the berries pop, about 10 to 15 minutes. Charles says you don’t want complete mush.


This can be stored in the refrigerator for weeks, months—-who knows how long. It freezes well, too. Charles usually makes 4 times this amount and enjoys it for Thanksgiving (he says it’s great with turkey sandwiches), and Christmas and maybe some for a friend.
